802.11 is a recently ratified data transmission standard that is expected to be used worldwide for LAN interoperability. 802.11 provides the minimum technical requirements for interoperability of 2.4 GHz wireless LANs based on established regulations in Europe, Japan, and the USA. The frequency ranges covered by 802.11 are within the US 2 GHz ISM band.
