GPS is an acronym for Global Positioning System, a US government run satellite system that can provide accurate location information anywhere in the world. The basic concept of the system is to use triangulation using radio signals from the satellites. The commercial version of GPS operates at 1575.42 MHz; while the military version also makes use of a second frequency of 1227.60 MHz for greater accuracy.
