Noise Floor

The lowest input signal power level which will produce a detectable output signal from a microwave component, determined by the thermal noise generated within the microwave component itself. The noise floor limits the ultimate sensitivity to weak signals of a microwave system, since any signal below the noise floor will result in an output signal with a signal-to-noise ratio of less than one and will be difficult to recover.
