A series of microwave amplifier stages connected in sequence (sometimes including limiters, attenuators or other elements) to produce the desired gain, power output and other performance characteristics. Most Agilent Technologies building block products and gain blocks are designed to be cascaded in a 50 ohm microstrip system.
